Over the Shoulder Baby Holder Slings

Comparisons to conventional carriers
(Front and Back Packs)

1. Gaining control of the body and learning to walk are the basic tasks of the first year. We can notice how control spreads from the head downward: starting first with the eyes, then the neck, then the trunk in learning to roll over, and finally the legs in learning to creep, crawl, and walk. Developmental therapists now tell us that children who bypass the crawling stage often have coordination and learning disabilities in later life. Movement helps to stimulate and pattern the brain, and no phase should be skipped or hurried. For this reason, there is a twofold value to the baby in being horizontal until he or she can sit and stand independently. The first is that the time of crawling is not foreshortened, as it is with the use of baby walkers. The second is that the weight of the head and brain are not placed on the central nervous system before the baby can support them. Thus, baby walkers and other devices that set the child prematurely upright do the baby a disservice. Conventional baby carriers contain this design flaw, whereas in an Over the Shoulder Baby Holder the baby remains horizontal.
2. Baby can lay down to sleep or nurse with head supported. This takes the weight of the head off the spine. Our sling supports the baby's head, follows the natural contour of the spine and keeps the legs together.
3. Baby's legs are not forced apart while little pelvis is soft and forming, promoting bowleggedness.
4. Most parents carry their children until they are 2 or 3 years old. As a sling mimics yours arms, when your baby reaches about 6 months old you begin carrying your baby in the hip-straddle position. The weight is easily carried because it is distributed over your entire torso, hip, shoulder and back.
5. Your baby's legs are not put through leg openings which can cut off circulation
6. No straps to cut into shoulders. Over the Shoulder Baby Holder has a soft contoured pad for your shoulder.
7. No straps to press into mom's upper chest circulation promoting breast infections. Our sling takes literally 10 seconds to put on and put baby in. Because it is much less complicated to put on, you are more likely to wear it around the house. Can be adjusted for various sized parents with one hand in seconds. No belts, buckles, snaps, zippers, etc. behind the back.
8. No rigid frame, leg or arm openings. Our sling conforms perfectly to any person's torso. It fits you, you don't have to fit it.
9. Depending on your baby's age or mood you can change baby's position to whatever makes him happiest: facing out or tummy to tummy or laying down or hip straddle or back carry.
10. You can lay the baby down without waking them up by bending over a bed and simply slipping it over your head.
11. Fashionable, no need to look like" you are going camping every time you want to wear your baby.
12. The Over the Shoulder Baby Holder is much cooler; even though baby is always right next to mom it allows the air to circulate. Baby is not stuffed inside of another hot bag. Our Fabric is also lightweight which breathes (unlike nylon, canvas, or corduroy carriers).
13. You can pull the fabric of the sling up to nurse discreetly in public.
