Dear Roxanne,
I cannot figure out how to use
this Over the Shoulder Baby Holder sling to SAVE MY LIFE!!! Please let
me know when you have more instructional videos in stock so I no
longer feel like the biggest idiot known to man!

Dear S:
I am ordering a batch of videos
right now! Now, let's get this sling working for you. My best
suggestion is to get to the next La Leche League meeting in your area.
I can almost guarantee that there'll be a sling-using mama in the room
who's happy to help. If the meeting isn't for a while, ask the leader
if she knows anyone you can go to for an assist. The frustrating thing
about the sling is that, once it clicks for you, you won't be able to
remember how come it didn't work before. It may be a teensy, tiny
adjustment. First thing is, how old is your baby? If he/she is an
infant, they're going to look squished and uncomfortable in there, but
they're not. They've just exited your womb after all, an it wasn't
exactly a womb with a view. ;)
Here are a couple standard sling
tips. I can't know without talking to you what's going wrong, but
these could help get you on the road to happiness: Make sure that
there's always fabric between your body and the baby's, forming a kind
of bucket for them to ride in. Check that the rings are high on your
shoulders, but not on top of them, where they'd dig in.
The first few times you use the
sling, make sure baby is not hungry or cranky. Put him/her in and get
moving. Don't just stand there waiting for them to hate it. And don't
jiggle, either. Just walk. You're not an idiot. It's a new tool that
you're not used to using. Baby will read your frustration and act on
it. So before your next try, make sure you're fed and not cranky or
anxious, too! :)
Regards,
Roxanne
