From: Crying and Sagging

Hi Roxanne,

My question is one of managing the pain of letters. Specifically, I have gone from my regular size of a "C" cup all the way to...(I can't believe I am saying this in public) to a "F" cup. Of course, Hubby thinks this is grand. He wants to see what the rest of the alphabet looks like on me! As for me, I am in PAIN! My back is killing me. I am wearing a very supportive bra, sized by a well informed Lactation Consultant. But I just can't seem to help my poor posture, which I am sure is the cause of the problem. Any suggestions?

Dear Crying and Sagging:

The answer to your - ouch - back pain? Although my letters are not as impressive as yours, my back is where I load all my stress and pain, so much so that when I go to get a massage, even if the last one was days earlier, the massuese says, "wow. have you ever had a massage in your life?" Anyway, to improve your posture: YOGA. Find a postnatal class where you can bring baby, or get hubby to watch and go breathe and stand properly for an hour. It will make a world of difference. If you can't find a class in your area, get a tape (my teacher sells tapes, but I haven't gotten around to carrying them yet). Think constantly about your spine, and imagine someone tugging at it from above you so that you straighten out. Years of bad posture are hard to correct on ones own, however, so you might want to check out a chiropractor for a few visits. Another exercise that does wonders for posture is pilates, done only with a certified instructor. But really, any exercise is better than none. The more active you feel, the better you'll stand. You need to support those mammaries!
